The Acura TLX A-Spec Named 2017 Car of the Year Runner-Up

The refreshed 2018 Acura TLX has various trim levels and one of them is the A-Spec, a performance-tuned version of the standard trim. Business Insider named the 2018 Acura TLX A-Spec a runner-up to its 2017 Car of the Year. The field started with 15 finalists, which was then reduced to six vehicles: five runner-ups and one winner.

The A-Spec adds a number of features and puts a name on what has, in the past, been a loose collection of packages.

The A-Spec comes with a blacked-out grille, lower fascia, rounded LED fog lamps, a black rear spoiler, a blacked-out rear diffuser with integrated 4-inche round exhaust cannons, color-keyed side skirts, and gunmetal gray, 19-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels.

The interior has received attention too. The A-Spec's front seats have added bolstering for torso support and comfort. The front seats have heating and ventilation as well. The steering wheel has thicker grips, brushed aluminum trim, and red ambient accent lighting to give the A-Spec a racing feel.

There are dual center display screens, which allow navigation and infotainment options to be open and accessible at the same time.

The A-Spec comes standard with a 290-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 paired with a 9-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.
